Lingospot – another widget for publishers & bloggers

13 June 2008 · 3 Comments

I’ve been checking out Lingospot – which is another pop-up widget for linking meta-data etc for publishers and bloggers. The tag line is:

Lingospot is an in-text content discovery service enabling authors to increase reader engagement and dynamically interlink their content.

Interesting application but I am curious about 3 things:

  1. what’s the business model?
  2. how can they protect this model?
  3. How can they engage and keep hold of users?

You can find an example of Lingospot in use on Forbes.com – look for hyperlinks… More investigation required over the weekend.

    Dylan,

Thanks for the post! Some brief comments:

    - Lingospot charges large publishers for the use of a customized content discovery service on their websites. Bloggers can get Lingospot for free by signing up at: https://www.lingospot.com/signup/

    - Although there are several other companies looking at the content discovery space, our discussions with large publishers indicate that our service offering is quite unique.

    - The Lingospot platform is a learning system, so we get better with our content discovery recommendations the more readers interact with our service. This helps us in becoming more engaging and holding on to users longer.

    - Or service has been fully tested with all IE browsers going back to IE 6, as well as Firefox and Safari. If you continue to have a problem, please let me know and we’ll look into it. Note that sometimes we may not underline terms in a particular article due to editorial controls.

    All the best,

    Nikos Iatropoulos
    CEO, Lingospot
